Emory postcardsA Live Art Demo

Dean Obeidallah, comedian & Faraz Khan, visual artist

The Biltmore, Sun. March 30th, 2014

Atlanta, Georgia

sponsored by Emory University MSA

I am really looking forward to flying to Atlanta to meet some new friends and present some new tricks to presenting Islamic artwork. It is a ‘no eyes have seen and no ears have heard’ type of performance and I am building up the momentum with collaboration and practice. It is wonderful that Emory University Muslim Student Association have done some wonderful annual art presentations over a decade. I like that type of consistency and the students the university deserves an applause for their model education.

Faraz Khan & Warner Brothers Studio film ‘American Sniper’

Warner Brothers - FarazKhanArtStudioIt’s official. I entered into an agreement with Warner Brothers to authorize use of my artwork for the upcoming movie “American Sniper” directed by Clint Eastwood.

“Navid Negahban (Homeland), Eric Close (Nashville), Eric Ladin (Boardwalk Empire) and Rey Gallegos (Gang Related) have joined the cast of American Sniper for director Clint Eastwood. The film stars Bradley Cooper as decorated marksman Chris Kyle, whose memoir American Sniper:The Autobiography Of The Most Lethal Sniper In U.S. Military History serves as the basis for the Warner Bros film. Village Roadshow is co-producing and co-financing. Filming starts at the end of March in Morocco.”

Step into the mesmerizing world of “light art” and discover a new creative means to use light as a source of writing and drawing with the help of slow shutter speed photography. Students will experiment with different ways to create amazing art with the power of cell phones and flashlights. The instructor will introduce participants to basic techniques in how to create drawings, comic strips, icons, graffiti designs, and calligraphy in English, Arabic, Hindi, Hebrew and Hieroglyphics. Students will be encouraged throughout the 3-week program to create (drawing and writing) an individualized short comic strip based on light art.
